What it is
The 12-month change in FHFA's purchase-only House Price Index, which tracks repeat sales of the same single-family homes with mortgages backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. It is published monthly, about two months behind.
Why it matters for real estate investors
Home values drive the single-family rental and residential development markets, and they show how rates are feeding through to housing.
